Privacy Policy

The Family App is built and operated by ORBs. It is a private space for two parents in a family to connect, reflect, and hold onto everyday moments together, not a public social network.

We collect only what the app genuinely needs to work:

• Account information: your name, email address, and password. Your password is handled by Firebase Authentication and is never stored or visible to us in plain text.
• Family and child profiles: the family space name, and any child profiles a parent chooses to add (a first name or nickname, birthdate, age, and pronouns). Children do not create accounts or log in themselves; this information is entered and managed by a parent.
• Content you create: Daily Reflections, Joy Journal entries (including any photo you choose to attach), Conflict Coach conversations, your Family Flag, Story Circle stories, Photo Memories, and photos saved to Family Vault.
• Basic usage information needed to operate the app securely, such as when content was created or last updated and which family member created it.

We do not collect location tracking, browsing history outside the app, or information from third-party advertising or data broker networks.

Your information is used only to provide the features you choose to use:

• To create and secure your account, and to keep your family's content private to your family.
• To power AI-assisted features you actively use, for example drafting a summary of your Family Flag, writing a short summary of a Photo Memory, responding in a Conflict Coach conversation, or continuing a Story Circle story. Each of these sends only the specific content needed for that one feature, not your family's full history.
• To send account-related messages, such as a notification when a Support Session request is received, approved, or scheduled.

We do not use your family's content for advertising, and we do not sell it to anyone.

• Nothing you create in the app is public. There are no public profiles, feeds, or searchable content.
• Shared content (like Joy Journal entries, your Family Flag, and Family Vault photos) is visible only to the authorized parents in your family account.
• Conflict Coach conversations are private to the parent who created them.
• Daily Reflection and Today's Goal are private to the parent who wrote them, both while in progress and after being saved.
• Your coach and ORBs staff do not routinely view family content, and never as a matter of course.

Some features use Google's Gemini AI models to help with writing (like turning your notes into a short Family Flag summary or a warm Conflict Coach response). These requests run on our servers, not in your browser, so your API access is never exposed. Only the specific content relevant to that one request is sent, for example a Conflict Coach reply is generated from that conversation's own messages and light context about your children's ages, never your Daily Reflections, Joy Journal entries, or photos.

We do not use your family's private content to train public AI models, and we do not share your conversations with advertisers.

We rely on a small number of established infrastructure providers to run the app, and nothing else:

• Google Firebase: account sign-in, our database, and app hosting.
• Google Gemini API: the AI-assisted writing features described above.
• Gmail: delivering account-related emails, such as Support Session notifications.

We do not use advertising networks, analytics trackers, or third-party data brokers.

Children do not create their own accounts, log in, or provide information directly to us. Child profiles exist only because a parent chooses to add them, and only a parent can create, edit, or delete that information. We never collect more about a child than a parent has chosen to share.

You can delete most content yourself, directly in the app. Joy Journal entries, Family Vault photos, Story Circle stories, and Conflict Coach conversations can each be removed by the parent who created them, right from their detail page.

You can delete your entire account yourself, any time, from Settings > Delete my account. This takes effect immediately and cannot be undone. We keep data only as long as needed to provide the service, plus any brief period required for backups or legal compliance.

We protect your family's information using standard industry practices, including:

• Encrypted connections (HTTPS) between your device and our servers.
• Firebase Authentication for account sign-in, so we never see or store your password.
• Database security rules that restrict every piece of content to your specific family account, and further restrict private content (like Conflict Coach conversations and drafts) to the parent who created it.

No system is perfectly secure, but protecting your family's trust is treated as an ongoing responsibility, not a one-time setup step.

• You control what you create, edit, and delete.
• Sharing is always something you choose, nothing is shared outside your family automatically.
• You can manage your notification preferences (Daily Reflection, Joy Journal, and birthday reminders) any time in Settings.

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. We encourage checking back here occasionally.
